Time for Charities to Fight Back Against the Rule Changes!

Caveman writes………………..This evening, I received the following email from the Michigan Charitable Gaming Association regarding an urgent meeting on August 8th, 2013.

NOTE: MEMBER AND NON-MEMBER CHARITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME!  Make sure you RSVP by emailing  jean@micga.org.

If you are at a room playing poker, make sure you get the word out to the rooms and charities as well.

Urgent

Meeting!

General Membership Meeting Thursday, August 8, 2013 10:30a.m.

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EVERY CHARITY HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 8th! ALARMING FACTS ABOUT RECENT ACTIONS OF THE MGCB that will significantly reduce and possibly eliminate charity poker fundraising:

- There were 70% fewer licenses for charity gaming fundraisers issued between Jan-Jun of 2013 vs. Jan – Jun of 2012; this equates to approximately $13 million dollars pulled from the charitable community over the course of this year. – There are only 38 active charity poker rooms in operation, down from approximately 180 at our peak. With the moratorium there has been no way for new rooms to open so this equates to thousands of charities not having equal access to this legal and profitable form of revenue!

- On Monday, the MGCB published more changes designed to shrink this industry further beginning September 1!

Protect your rights and your bottom line! This article on www.detpokerz.com has a good summary of how dire your situation is: The beginning of the end to charity poker rooms

We encourage all of our members to send a representative or two from their organization to participate in this very important discussion.

Be advised that a regularly scheduled Board Meeting will be taking place prior to the General Membership meeting. This meeting of the MiCGA Board of Directors will take place at 9:00a.m. The General Membership meeting will follow at 10:30a.m. To RSVP or if you have any questions, please contact Jean at jean@micga.org.
